About Me

I grew up in the beach community of Venice, California. My life has been a mixture of very different experiences. As a young boy, I surfed and roamed the streets with dangerous boys. I lived for the excitement that such company brought. After high school, I ended up as a fundamentalist preacher. After a while, I found those principles too harsh for my nature. Although I believed it, I could not accept it. So I decided to go back to shcool to get a degree.

I attended Art Center College of Design in Padadena, California. I earned a scholarship and received a B.A. in illustrations with honors. Art was the right choice, but commerical art was not. I spent a few years in animation and maquette-making, and then became a real estate agent. After further exploration of my artistic desires, I realized that my passion was sculpture.

Inspirations for my sculptures come from my inner feelings about life, rebirth, and spiritual mysticism. They are the reflections and interpretation of my life experiences. Some of the shows I have exhibited at are: Sausalito Art Fair, Beverly Hills-Affairs in the Garden, Golden Sculpture Association, La Quinta Art Festival, Malibu Art Show, Cherry Creek Art Festival, and Scottsdale Art Festival. I have been awarded first place in figurative sculpture in GSA and Affairs in the Garden. I have been commisssioned to do private work for some of my clients.

Teaching figurative sculpture has been rewarding and keeps me balanced. I teach methods and figurative sculpture in various media at Teale Street Sculpture Studio, formerly known as Bob Cunningham Studios, in Culver City, where I have been the lead sculpture instructor since 2000.

I am happily married and have a son and a daughter.
